TIMES BENGKULU, MALANG – In a heartwarming testament to resilience and unwavering determination, Ngatima, a centenarian hailing from Desa Leces, Leces District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java, is set to embark on a profound journey: the pilgrimage to Hajj 2024.

Through meticulous saving of Rp 20,000 daily, affectionately known as Nenek Tirjo, she has finally amassed the funds necessary to realize her lifelong aspiration of performing Hajj in the year 2024.

A Tale of Perseverance

"Nenek Tirjo epitomizes the notion that with dedication and steadfastness, dreams can indeed materialize," remarked one of her neighbors, echoing the sentiments of an entire community inspired by her resolve.

Despite the challenges posed by advancing age, Nenek Tirjo's fervor and devoutness for the Hajj pilgrimage remain undiminished.

With humility, she acknowledged the arduousness of the journey to the sacred grounds of Mecca, yet remained resolute in her belief that with earnest endeavor, all endeavors are within reach.

"If it is the will of the Almighty, I shall be granted the opportunity to tread upon the holy soil before my earthly departure," she professed.

A Testament to Faith and Hard Work

Undeterred by her humble means, Nenek Tirjo, who earns her livelihood as a masseuse for both young and old and as a laborer in the fields, emphasized the profound significance of her Hajj aspirations.

"Though my profession may be modest, my aspirations for Hajj soar high. Thus, I persist in saving, nurturing the hope of embarking on this sacred journey," she affirmed, her countenance radiant with optimism.

Despite a two-year postponement due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Nenek Tirjo's perseverance bore fruit in 2018 when she received the long-awaited opportunity to enroll as a Prospective Hajj Pilgrim.

"After a six-year wait, the call to embark on Hajj finally arrived. The joy I felt was immeasurable. I am profoundly grateful to have been afforded this opportunity to witness and tread upon the holy grounds," she expressed with profound gratitude.
